Knowledge to Ponder: Genesis 18-20
So, there I was, staring at this couch.
It needed to be moved. I told myself that over and over. The problem? I had no one around to help me. And let me tell you—this thing was heavy.
But patience? Nope, didn’t have any that day. Instead of waiting for my boys to help, I thought, “I got this.”
Spoiler alert: I did not have this.
Not only did I fail to move the couch, but I also managed to knock over a few things, stub my toes in the process, and create an all-around disaster. Honestly, it was a mess. And for what? Because I didn’t want to wait. Because I let impatience take over instead of using a little wisdom. (Yes, I admit it—that was dumb.)
And as I stood there, rubbing my poor toes, I couldn’t help but laugh at myself. Because this wasn’t the first time I had rushed into something thinking I knew best. I’ve made plenty of messes simply because I didn’t stop to ask for help—whether from others or from God.
Ever been there?
We get so caught up in proving we can handle things on our own that we forget something important: we don’t have to.
And you know what? God gets it. Just like a loving Father, He watches us, shaking His head with a smile, waiting for us to come to Him and say, “Okay, I need help.”
Take Abraham and Sarah, for example. God promised them a nation, but instead of trusting His plan, they tried to speed things up on their own. (Genesis 18:11-14) Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well. They made a mess, hurt people in the process, and even laughed at God’s promise. But did that change God’s love for them? Nope. He saw their hearts, forgave them, and fulfilled His promise anyway.
Because here’s the truth: nothing is too hard for God.
We need that reminder sometimes, don’t we? We hear stories of miraculous healings, impossible situations turned around, lives changed in ways that defy logic. And even in our own lives, we’ve seen moments where things worked out in ways only He could have orchestrated. My own personal testimony is my son’s miraculous healing.
So, let’s be real:
❌ Is anything too hard for you? Absolutely.
✅ Is anything too hard for God? Not a chance.
Let God lift the heavy stuff—He has the strength for that and so much more. Just ask.
