Rewrite the Story—It’s Never Too Late

Knowledge to Ponder:  Joshua 2

Meet Sharon. She’s a light—full of joy, positivity, and a spirit that uplifts every room she walks into. But that wasn’t always her story. There was a time when Sharon believed that God had dealt her a bad hand. Her childhood was marked by hardship, loss, and moments that made her feel forgotten. And like many of us do, she assumed that the struggle she began with was just the story she was meant to carry for life.

But let me tell you something: Sharon’s story didn’t end there.

As she journeyed forward, God began to place people in her life—mentors, friends, prayer warriors—who challenged her to see herself differently. To believe differently. And to understand that her beginning didn’t have to dictate her end. That with God, she could change the whole narrative. And she did.

You see, Sharon thought her life was locked into a single script—a story based on pain, limits, and “just getting by.” But that’s not how God works. He sees so much more in us than we can imagine. While we’re focused on what was, He’s already working on what can be.

Maybe you’ve been there, too. Stuck in a chapter of your life that feels heavy and hopeless. Maybe you’ve even convinced yourself that it’s too late to change it. That this is just “how things are.”

But let me remind you: God is the author and the finisher of our faith. He doesn’t just write beginnings—He perfects endings. You, my friend, are not alone. He sees your heart. He knows your past. But even more, He sees your potential and the future He’s prepared for you.

Remember Rahab?

She was a woman living in the city of Jericho, known for choices that many would’ve considered shameful. But when given the opportunity to act with courage, she did. She hid the Israelite spies and helped them escape, risking her life in the process. And because of her faith and boldness, God not only saved her and her family—He gave her a place of honor in the lineage of Jesus Himself (Matthew 1:5).

Rahab’s past didn’t disqualify her. In fact, God used her because of her story—not in spite of it.

And He can do the same for you.

So today, I want to encourage you: if you’re carrying around an old narrative that says, “this is all there is for me”, it’s time to set it down. You don’t have to keep living in survival mode or accepting the lies of “not good enough.” God has already handed you the pen. You get to work with Him to rewrite the story.

The best part? When you let God be the author of your next chapter, the ending will be more beautiful than anything you could have written on your own.

So no more “woe is me.” No more rehearsing the pain of the past. It’s time to rise up, walk with God, and start writing the story you were always meant to live.

And I, for one, cannot wait to see how it ends. 💛

Confirmation statement:

My beginning doesn’t have to be my ending and I get to change the narrative.

Prayer: Lord God thank You for giving me a story for my life that includes You.  So many people in this world do not understand or know the magnitude of Your precious grace and mercy and I am just honored to be on the narrow road of those who do.  I am asking You to look upon those who don’t know You or understand You to give them a space of time to get to know You.  Lord have mercy on those who are dealing with difficult situations and need to know You in a mighty way.  Help them to see that they too have the ability to change their story.  Help them to know they can only make that change with Your help.  And thank You for giving me Your Son Jesus that has shown me the road to forgiveness and peace as I finish my story.  Amen

Practical Application:

How are you allowing your past to dictate your future?  Write a list of “truths” about who you are today and how God played a part in that.  Now write a list of future “truths”, ask God to bless the future you and keep you grounded.  Celebrate the you that’s to come.
