Knowledge to Ponder: Matthew 7: 24-29; 8:5-20
One minute the sun was shining… and the next, torrential rain poured from the sky.
Where did this storm even come from?
That sudden shift made me think about life — how we’re going along just fine, then out of nowhere, a storm hits.
Challenges. Disagreements. Disappointments. Unfulfilled longings. Doubts. Trials. Temptations. Setbacks. Spiritual attacks.
(Yes, that’s a mouthful… but it happens to all of us.)
And guess what?
Jesus faced all of it too.
He walked this earth as fully human so He could feel what we feel — the pressures of work, sickness, sorrow, trauma, persecution, tragedy, even fear.
Jesus understands every tear, every silent prayer, every storm.
So how do we survive the storms of life?
How do we stand firm when everything around us feels like it’s collapsing?
It starts with building a strong foundation — and that foundation is faith.
Just like Jesus had unwavering faith in His Father, we are called to have the same faith in Him.
We may not always know God’s full plan for our lives, but we can be confident that through faith, our salvation is secure when we walk in obedience to His word.
Here’s the truth:
- Wise people hear God’s word and live it out.
- Foolish people hear God’s word and ignore it.
We get to choose what kind of foundation we build.
Faith doesn’t just happen randomly — it’s deliberate, daily, and deep.
And God?
He’s no respecter of persons.
In Matthew 8:8, even the Roman centurion — someone outside the Jewish faith — believed so strongly in Jesus’ power that he said, “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
That’s the kind of faith that moves mountains. That’s the kind of faith that builds an unshakable foundation.
So let me ask you:
👉🏽 Is your faith cracked, fragile, and close to collapse?
👉🏽 Or are you laying down a foundation that can withstand any storm?
If you’re not sure — that’s okay.
What’s important is deciding that now is the time to strengthen it.
It all starts with small, intentional steps.
Here’s how you can begin building your faith foundation today:
3 Actionable Steps to Build a Stronger Foundation of Faith
1. Spend intentional time in God’s Word every day.
Start simple: read one chapter a day. Let His promises renew your mind and strengthen your heart.
2. Put His Word into action.
Don’t just read — live it. Forgive someone, extend kindness, pray before reacting, trust Him when it feels scary.
3. Pray for stronger faith — and expect it.
Ask God to deepen your trust in Him. He wants you to ask — and He will answer.
🌟 Faith doesn’t remove the storm. It anchors you through it.
Decide today to start laying your bricks of faith, one by one.
You’ve got this — and God’s got you. 🤍
Prayer: Lord thank You for helping me to build faith in You and Your word. With everything we see in the news and hear in the world today, it is very difficult to build faith and remain faithful. But thankfully we don’t have to do it on our own and can easily rely on you as our constant help. Thank You for being the one thing that is a solid foundation in my life. When I am in despair and don’t know what to do or where to turn, I know through faith that I can turn to You. Lord God help me to build my faith by remaining in Your word and asking for guidance to put Your words in action. In Your Son Jesus’ name. Amen
Now it’s time for praise. Here is my girl, Tasha Cobb Leonard with Solid Rock, so fitting because that’s what He is.
